Besides the usually lose weight and be healthier resolutions, I wanted to put keyboard to website (pen to paper?) about some of the things I want to accomplish in 2010.
First, I want to successfully transition into my new job at work. For those that aren’t aware, I am leaving my traditional computer/IT role that I have done for the last 9 years and decided to move into a supervisory role in our Packaging Process Support (Maintenance) department. Its definitely going to be a new experience for me. It is my goal to master this position in the next month or so and be able to help assist in eliminating the position all together. Its a development step for me that I need to be successful with if I want to advance with the company.
Second, I want to be a better husband and father. I think I am pretty good but with the new role at work I think I will have to work that much harder to make sure my new hours and job stresses do not take me away from those things that are important to me.
Third, I would like to brew more competition beers. Steve mentioned last Wednesday that it would be cool if when we went to the GABF this year (yeah, we plan on hitting up the GABF) that I was there as a Pro-Am Winner. I need to brew much better beer than I have done previously to make this dream a reality. I need to make a more concerted effort to keep better brewing notes and focus on producing 2-3 beer recipes consistently. I think I like to experiment maybe a little too much. Its fun but doesn’t give me the practical experience to produce and reproduce commercially viable beers. Think of it as better defining the Champion City Brewing portfolio.
Fourth, learn new things. I want to get my Six Sigma Black Belt. Get my BJCP Beer Judge Certification (Mead as well). Learn Spanish. Read more books and watch less TV. Take on new challenges (homebrewing competition, leadership role in Brewing Ambassadors).
I guess I have lots of things that I want to accomplish. Big and Small goals. Its now up to me to make it happen. Things will come up and goals will change but I think the important things is to try to do better in everything I do. My first goal for the day is to go pick up my son and play with him and his toys. More later…..
