Michigan Beer

Spent a few hours yesterday with my brother in law, Rob, cruising for new brew pubs and beer spots. I decided to put together a map on Google of the places I have been and the other places I would like to go. Michigan really has an interesting and varied assortment of small brew pubs and larger craft breweries. Its a very fun time for the beer geek in me.

The blue markers are ones I haven’t visited and the green push pins are places I have. I think I will use red for closed or not worth returning (haven’t used any of these yet)

Yesterday, we went to Dragonmead and Sherwood Brewing. Sherwood is pretty typical local bar/brewpub. Good atmosphere for watching a football game with your friends. Its no smoking (a plus) and the bartender seems knowledgable about the beers. Nothing standout about the beers though. They were overall good with the BlonDDe Ale and the Pale standing out from the rest.

Dragonmead was awesome. 1/2 pints and lots of variety. I think they must have 30-40 beers on tap. Ring of Fire (Habenaro Pepper Beer) was an interesting palate burner. Overall, beers were excellent, style options were various. Basically, they have a beer for everyone. I would love to go back and try some more. Only minor disappointment was only 2 options for mead (dry and sweet). I was hoping to see maybe 5-10 various types. Overall, it was excellent however

Anyway, I need to get ready to watch the Detroit Lions make history (0-16). More later
